Malta has a rich oeuvre of applied and decorative arts, fields of art that were generally regarded as 'lesser' arts up until the 20th century. A grand museum housing these various design fields, including architecture, fashion, performance design, jewellery, domestic objects and decoration as well as photography would be a great stepping stone in raising the prestige of design as well as its importance in the creation of jobs. This would also create a national collection for reference purposes.
