Give schools additional human resources by attracting nonpractising teachers and Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to return to work or join schooling, even on flexible working schemes, so that a pool of relief teachers and LSAs is available.
My suggestion here is to provide the opportunity to supply teachers (at scale 10) who have graduated but do not have a teaching qualification as yet, to read for a part time course (as a PGCE course), while they still continue to work. In this way they they can keep their salary and the department does not loose yet another teacher.
This proposal should also include teachers who reached pensionable age and are willing to continue serving.
Would this mean only for those that are returning to work? What about those who take care of sick, elderly parents and relatives?
