The Rhu & Shandon Gala is a fun, affordable, family day out that is the highlight of the calendar in the Rhu & Shandon community. It is held, annually, on the 2nd Saturday in June and sees over 1000 people flock to the village to enjoy the day. It is run solely by a team of hardworking volunteers who are always seeking help, whether it be financially or physically. Any profit made by the gala each year is then donating back into the community.
Sounds like a great event! What do others think?
This year the Gala celebrates its 20th anniversary of continuous galas and is aiming to be the best one yet. Any money we receive would go towards this, by bringing in bigger/better attractions for all to enjoy. We are always looking for volunteers from the community if anyone would like to be involved.
Argyll and Bute TSI will hold a drop in help session on Wednesday (10th January) from 10am-12pm and 1-3pm in the Helensburgh office at 14 Colquhoun Square. If you would like help with the stage 2 application pop in and see us (we will have a cuppa and biscuits on hand too...)
The Gala is so much fun, a great day out and a vital part of village life. Events like this bring the community together and deserve help from the council.
