The Mull Music Makers project was set up in 2014 and is focused on improving access to musical activities for the children living on the Isle of Mull. Access to music is otherwise extremely limited. We fund a programme of monthly workshops delivered by our experienced team of professional music tutors. At the workshops, children focus on developing core musicianship skills through Kodaly-based singing games, rhythm skills, music theory, group violin tuition, ensemble coaching and performance.
By voting for this project you will be helping to keep musical traditions on the Island alive for future generations. Our project recognises the need for more musical opportunities for our youngsters and values the benefits of music-making from an early age. Our monthly workshops support children from across the island to develop their musical skills and learn the violin under the expertise of our highly-experienced practitioners from the mainland.
I would never have chosen the violin for my son, but am so glad he has had this fantastic opportunity
Mull Music Makers is a fantastic project, offering fantastic violin tuition and music theory to our children, that they would otherwise not have access to. My daughter loves attending and it is wonderful to see her progress and her confidence grow through her monthly classes.
Music-making of this type is a proven improver of brain function, social awareness, problem solving, and many other life-enhancing skills. It is also great fun!!
