Identify small pavement areas where block pavers have been replaced with unsightly tarmac. Work with the local authority to get approved status for a small group of volunteer individuals that could turn their hand to repairs under 1 sq metre. This has the potential to save £1,000s. It's done elsewhere. And it frees up town centre manager budgets to spend on more exciting stuff. The local authority could pay a token sum for local projects/charity when they sign off the work :)
The pavements look a mess. DCC costs are disproportionate. Things could be developed in partnership with the highways department for the benefit of this group, its projects, local charity, etc, whilst saving £1,000s in the process. Lets get it going!
