Thirsk is really well placed to be a centre for green/sustainable tourism. This sector is forecast to grow at 10% PER YEAR, creating lots of new jobs, as people become more environmentally aware. We need to be “greening up” Thirsk and marketing it to attract visitors who want that kind of experience. Thirsk Town council should draw up a green spaces plan that protects, enhances and expands our green spaces (e.g. new wildflower meadows, ecological/biodiversity survey and tree planting).
