I work for a multi-national that employs thousands of people in Ireland, mostly Irish. From time to time, though, we need to people with very particular skills and experience - people from elsewhere in the EU. It is surprisingly difficult to move people here from outside the EU - even though they'll be top-rate tax-payers from day one, and are certain to spend heavily on apartments, cars & shopping in general. Let's cut the red-tape and wasteful delays for non-EU immigrants.
...then you should love immigrants! Productive members of the community from the day they land, they arrive already educated at the expense of some other state, ready to spend, be taxed, and contribute their work to some Irish-based enterprise. My own children, much as I love them, will not produce much in the way of goods and services for couple of decades.
