Covid is telling us we must co-operate, i.e., share power. So, rather than argue over dichotomies in majority votes, politicians should base decisions (in parliamentary votes and in referendums) on multi-option preferential votes, the modified Borda count, MBC. The latter is more accurate - and therefore more democratic - than majority voting; furthermore, it is non-majoritarian. Therefore, instead of dividing parliaments into two - government versus opposition - all parties should co-operate in all-party power-sharing, and such a government of national unity can best be formed by use of the matrix vote.
