Citizen science initiative to monitor Ammonia levels across rural communities
Ammonia pollution is a problem in rural areas - largely connected to slurry being sprayed as a fertiliser. DAERA currently use scientific models to estimate the levels of ammonia in rural areas. This is backed up by 28 real time ammonia monitoring stations used to "ground-truth" the models used. If we could provide a few hundred rural citizens with cheap monitors a rich data source on ammonia pollution levels could be developed.
