Pharmacists are often more locally based than hospital and they have an extensive knowledge of a wide range of conditions and are in a position to advise on how to treat urgently
It is important to bear in mind that many patients in England live in rural locations, sometimes 20-30+ miles from hospital with full A+E facilities. This can mean that there is little opportunity to choose where the best place is for urgent care.
