Common goals are laudable, but Europe needs to accommodate commonality *as well as* identity. Identity in terms of, e.g., region, social stratum or gender. The influence of supranational entities ought to be made transparent, circumscribed by strict conditions and subjugated to the peoples' interests. Europe is a patchwork of peoples, not a melting pot at the disposition of corporate henchmen.
